This mural tells the story of piper George Clark of the 71st Regiment. He was injured while playing to cheer on his companions. Although seriously injured and unable to continue playing, he announced: “Diel ha’ my soul, lads, if ye sall want music!!!” and continued to do so in great effort, playing his favorite national song, until he had fulfilled his mission and his regiment came back victorious. Clark received a handsome pension and was rightly rewarded by the Highland Society with an appropriate medal.
