The tour ends next to the Memorial Monument and the Interpretation Center of the Battle of Vimeiro (CIBV). The CIBV is a museum space that preserves the memory of the battle The Memorial Monument’s main symbol is the lion head, which represents the strength and courage of the soldiers. It has the Portuguese national coat of arms, a stone with some words about the First French Invasion and, at the top, a representation of the Shrapnel grenade. The monument measures about 4.5 meters in height, was executed by Portuguese craftsmen and is classified as a property of public interest. In Vimeiro, the population calls the Monument “Memory”, as its construction was essential to preserve the memory of the battle fought here.
